Far beyond the regional boundaries, Tettnang is famous for its hop-growing. Master brewers the world over value the 'Green Gold' of the Monfort town as a refining ingredient for their finest brews. The delicate aroma and subtly bitter taste lend these beers an unmistakeable character and hint at the incomparable countryside between the northerly shores of Lake Constance and the region of Allgaeu.

"From farmer to brewer" - Tettnang, the town of the hops
The Kronenbrauerei in the heart of Tettnang and the Tettnanger Hopfenmuseum in Siggenweiler mark the key points of the hop tour "Vom Bauer zum Brauer" ("From farmer to brewer"). On a visit to the Tettnanger Hopfenmuseum, you can experience 'hop history' and you'll be transported back in time, to the days when the hop harvest was still a laborious manual task. You'll see an exclusive collection of old machinery and tools, which demonstrate the ingenuity of previous generations and, in contrast, the atmosphere of an up to date hop-growing farm. The hop tour ends at the Kronenbrauerei, the last of the former 26 breweries in the town area, which has been owned by the Tauscher family since 1847. On a round tour with the master brewer you'll be let into the secrets of the brewing tradition, from the basic ingredients, through to the brewing house, to the cellar storage area. As finale, you'll be introduced to 'zwickeling': the master brewer will draw you a beer, fresh from the cellar, naturally cloudy, just as he prefers it himself.
