Tour 4: Germany, Austria, Switzerland – one lake – three countries

Route: Lindau, Bregenz, Hard, Höchst, Gaissau, Altenrhein, Rorschach, Arbon, Romanshorn, Friedrichshafen
Length of tour: ca. 58 km
Highest point: 416 m
Description: easy

The trip with the ferry or the hourly train service to the start of our tour in Lindau is an experience in itself. The port at Lindau, with its two lighthouses and the famous Bavarian lion, provides one of the best-loved photo motives in the region of Lake Constance. After a short pedestrian section through the old part of town, the cycle path leads you over a bridge onto the mainland (Lindau is an island!) and shortly afterwards over the Austrian border to Bregenz. The route will take you along the promenade, passing the largest lakeside stage in Europe and on into the delta of the alpine Rhine. Having traversed both the 'New Rhine' and the 'Old Rhine', you'll reach the Swiss side of the lake. After Arbon, you'll travel on to Romanshorn and from there you'll take the ferry, straight across Lake Constance, back to Friedrichshafen.

Tips:
Bregenz – Seebühne (lakeside stage)
Altenrhein – Hundertwasser-Markthalle
Rorschach – Automobil- und Automatenmuseum

Repasts and refreshments:
After Bregenz, directly next to the cycle path: Motorbootclub Bregenz

Please note: You'll require your personal identification card or your passport in Switzerland.
