The second route, is distinguished by a large number of places of interest. After the idyllic boroughs of Immenstaad and Hagnau, you'll arrive at Meersburg which, with its two castles and its historical half-timbered houses, is considered to be one of the main attractions on Lake Constance. Shortly after Meersburg, in Unteruhldingen, you'll come across the “Pfahlbauten” – historical lake dwellings. The open air museum provides us with an authentic depiction of how our forefathers lived on the shores of Lake Constance. A few kilometres further on, beautifully situated above the lake, is the Barock church Birnau. You can savour a wonderful view across the Überlinger See. From here, it's only a few minutes ride to Überlingen, a town with Mediterranean charm. Having reached Ludwigshafen, you've arrived at the furthest point of the Überlinger See. You can take a comfortable trip back to Friedrichshafen by train.
