Tour 1

Tour 1: From Friedrichshafen to Lindau – over the marsh and through gentle valleys.

Route: Friedrichshafen, Eriskirch, Langenargen, Kressbronn, Wasserburg, Bad Schachen, Lindau
Length of tour: ca. 27 km (plus ca. 2 x 5 km alongside the river Argen)
Highest point: 410 m
Description: easy

This, the first route, holds a wealth of wonderful experiences in store. In the nature reserve “Eriskircher Ried”, you'll find yourself in the midst of a flora and fauna which is still undisturbed by human influence. The flowering irises during the early Summer are particularly beautiful. Shortly after the marsh, you'll arrive at “Schloss Montfort”, the landmark of Langenargen. Continuing, you'll cross the cable suspension bridge, known as the little version of the Golden Gate Bridge. We particularly recommend a detour along the banks of the river Argen into the beautiful surrounding area of Lake Constance to the moated castle of Gießen. Back on the shores of the lake, you'll be cycling through orchards which remind you of paradise, Nonnenhorn and the peninsular Wasserburg. Having passed Bad Schachen, the finishing point of the leg is the mediaeval island town Lindau. We recommend that you explore Lindau on foot, leaving your bicycle at the port, where you can return to Friedrichshafen with it by ship or train.
